The main characters of this story from Greek mythology are Apollo and Daphne.

Apollo fell in love with Daphne the first time he saw her, and started to follow her. Worried about this situation, Daphne ran away in fear, and finally fell to the ground. As Daphne begged for help to the mother earth, her request for help was accepted by the mother earth and she was slowly turning into a Laurel tree.

Apollo, who tried to find the girl he loved, hugged her tightly when he saw a laurel tree in front of him. After that, Apollon's favourite tree became the laurel tree.
