Pot Marigold is a plant that belongs to the Asteraceae family and attracts attention with its bright orange or yellow flowers. This plant, which is native to the Mediterranean region, is widely grown both as a medicinal and ornamental plant. The leaves of the calendula plant are long, oval, slightly hairy and pale green in colour. The leaves are arranged regularly along the stem. Pot Marigold is large and brightly coloured. The flowers can be single-layered or multi-layered and bloom throughout the summer. Each flower head consists of many small florets. The stem of the plant is erect, branched and hairy. The stems vary the overall height of the plant between 30-60 cm. The Pot Marigold plant has a fibrous root system. This root system ensures that the plant is firmly anchored in the soil. Pot Marigold prefers sunny areas and well-drained soils. It is resistant to cold weather and can tolerate light frosts.

  • Essential oils: Pot Marigold Hydrosol contains between 0.1-0.3 % essential oil. The main components of essential oils are:
  • α-Pinene: 0,5-1 %, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
  • β-Pinene: 0,1-0,5%, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
  • Limonene: 0,1-0,5%, shows anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antioxidant effects.
