Blackberry plants are generally distributed in forest areas. The wild types are quite thorny. However, there are no thorns in the types bred in recent years. The leaves on the plant are distinctly sliced and the leaf margins are serrated.
Blackberries grow in perennial shrub form and contain tannins, gallic acid, villosin and iron. The fruit contains vitamin C (%0,2), niacin (nicotinic acid), pectin, sugars, anthocyanins and albumin, citric acid and malic acid.
