Tea plant is an important industrial plant that is cultivated in the world, especially in places with abundant rainfall and humid climates. The plant is evergreen, forming new leaves and shoots from early summer and harvested several times until the end of summer.
The Tea plant contains a variety of beneficial compounds, including antioxidants, flavonoids and polyphenols. The leaves are mainly used to prepare all kinds of tea. Of these, green and black tea are the most common. The leaves contains essential oil. The leaves contain essential oil between 0.09% and 0.63%. The main components of the essential oil are β-pinene (51.2%) and α-pinene (30.2%).
