Juniper tree is an evergreen tree that grows up to 10 m in height and is spread in forested areas. The fruits formed on the juniper plant are characterised by their aromatic odour and brown colour.

Juniper (Juniperus communis) oil is an important natural product known as a source of bioactive ingredients for direct fragrance blending. The essential oil content varies between 0.5-2.5% and the volatile constituents are monoterpene hydrocarbons α-pinene (51.4%), myrcene (8.3%), sabinene (5.8%), limonene (5.1%) and β-pinene (5.0%).
