Lavandin is a plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. Lavandin, which spreads naturally in some European countries, is not included in Turkey's natural vegetation. It is a perennial, semi-woody and shrub-shaped plant. It has a very strong root system. Violet flowers bloom in June. The height of this plant, which has many branches, varies between 80-120 cm, and the diameter of the habitus varies between 1-2 m. The leaves are grayish green in color and have a distinctive elongated structure. It does not shed its leaves and the above-ground parts do not dry out in winter, but plant growth stops. From the spring, this plant gives fresh shoots, flower stalks, and then flowers.
Lavandin flowers contain essential oils. The amount of essential oil varies between 4-6%. The main components of the essential oil are linalool and linalyl acetate compounds. In addition, lavandin extract contains compounds such as camphor, borneol, and caryophyllene.
